Michael Cunningham Deputy Chief Constable Lancashire Constabulary

Michael Cunningham is Lancashire Constabulary’s Deputy Chief Constable. He was appointed to this position on 6th August 2007.

Mike began his police career when he joined Lancashire Constabulary in 1987. Prior to becoming a police constable, Mike graduated from the University of Durham and became a teacher in Blackpool.

His police career started in Lytham, and Mike has been operational across the Constabulary area in a number of different ranks. He went full circle when he returned to Blackpool as Divisional Commander in 2002.

Having successfully completed the Strategic Command Course in Bramshill in November 2005 he returned to Lancashire Constabulary as Acting Assistant Chief Constable and was subsequently appointed to Assistant Chief Constable with responsibility for operational policing across Lancashire.

Mike is the ACPO lead for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans-sexual (LGB/T) portfolios He is also the Chair of the ACPO Counter Corruption Advisory Group (ACCAG).
