Ian Seabridge Acting Deputy Chief Constable Greater Manchester Police

Ian was promoted to Assistant Chief Constable in June 2002 and became Acting Deputy Chief Constable in March 2008.
He joined GMP in 1980 after graduating from Manchester University, and subsequently achieved a Masters in Police Management and a Diploma in Applied Criminology.
Ian served as a PC in Manchester city centre for seven years before moving to South Manchester Division where he worked up to the rank of detective chief inspector. From 1994, he was uniform chief inspector at Bootle Street in North Manchester and was the senior officer on the ground when the IRA bomb went off in 1996.
In late 1996 he was promoted to superintendent and headed the Murder Review department before working at Wigan CID. On promotion to chief superintendent, he was responsible for the Discipline and Complaints Branch and then Crime Investigation Branch.
As Acting Deputy Chief Constable he is responsible for the Serious Crime Division, Scientific Services, Force Intelligence Branch, Architectural Liaison Unit and Corporate Development. Ian is the North West region ACPO Secretary and is the ACPO lead on Gambling.
