Chief Constable Mike Langdon

Mike Langdon joined the Isle of Man Constabulary from Merseyside Police in July 2005 as Deputy Chief Constable. He has a Masters Degree in Leadership Development from the University of Hull. Mr. Langdon has more than 30 years' police service, having started in Lancashire Constabulary in 1975, rising to become Chief Superintendent as the Head of CID in Merseyside, then the Area Commander for North Liverpool, one of the largest command units in the UK.
His command experience extends to serious and organised crime investigations including murders and firearms as well as policing experince in deprived areas with operational demands such as policing prisons and Premier League football grounds. Since his arrival on the Island he has been primarily involved in the modernisation of the Constabulary with emphasis on Neighbourhood Policing and localism as well as the development of professional standards. He is the holder of the prestigious Queen's Police Medal, awarded in 2004 by Her Majesty the Queen in recognition of the impact made on serious and organised crime in Merseyside and the performance improvements in the North Liverpool area.
Mr. Langdon became Chief Constable on January 1, 2008.
