Deputy Chief Constable, Steve Allen

Lothian and Borders Police today (Monday, January 11, 2010) welcomes its new Deputy Chief Constable, Steve Allen a former Commander with the Metropolitan Police.

DCC Allen takes up post after serving with the Met since 2003 where he was most recently Director of Training and Development.

DCC Allen is a former Commander of the City of Westminster, where he had responsibility for policing the heart of London, leading a team of over 2000 officers and staff.

He also established the Met's Violent Crime Directorate, which gave him responsibility for a range of public protection and violent crime issues, and was the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) lead for Honour-based Violence and Forced Marriage.

DCC Allen said: 'I have been impressed by the officers and staff I have met and their commitment to keeping people safe, helping them when they are in trouble or at their most vulnerable and holding offenders to account.

'I look forward to joining a progressive Force which is at the forefront of Scottish policing and adding my experience to what is already an excellent team.'
