Bob Dyson Deputy Chief Constable South Yorkshire Police

Bob Dyson was born in Sheffield but emigrated to Melbourne, Australia at the age of 10. His police career began as a police cadet in the Victoria State Police but was put on a temporary hold when he returned to South Yorkshire with his family. He subsequently joined South Yorkshire Police as a constable in November 1976.
During his career he has worked in a number of roles and locations across the county, including Roads Policing, Community Policing, Personnel, Operations Manager at Rotherham, Head of Community Safety and as the District Commander for Barnsley. Bob has also worked as a Staff Officer to Her Majesty Inspectorate of Constabulary for a period of 2 years where he was responsible for inspecting police forces in the North East Region.
Bob has a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Criminology and Police Management from Cambridge University.
Away from work his interests revolve around his family and the ongoing battle to retain a reasonable level of fitness.
