Tony Melville Deputy Chief Constable Devon & Cornwall Constabulary

Tony Melville was appointed deputy chief constable of Devon & Cornwall Constabulary in January 2007. On the 1st January 2010 he departed on promotion as Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary (cf)
He joined the Force in June 2003 on appointment as assistant chief constable (ACC) – Territorial Policing.
Mr Melville’s career began in 1981 when he joined Warwickshire Constabulary, having spent three years as a police cadet. He served in all ranks from constable to chief superintendent. He gained a wide range of operational experience working in response policing, as a traffic patrol officer and as a detective.
As a chief superintendent he performed the role of BCU commander for two years and was the Force crime manager before his appointment as ACC.
