Steve Devine is the Assistant Chief Constable (Territorial Operations) for Hertfordshire. He joined the constabulary in 2002 as a Superintendent, having previously served in the Metropolitan Police Service.
He worked as a divisional Detective Chief Inspector before departure, having previously served as an SIO on murder squads for four years. Steve served mostly in the east and north of London (Tottenham, Kings Cross, Islington, Ilford, Barkingside, Stratford, Arbour Square and Leyton).
Before moving to London, Steve taught Biology at a school in the centre of Belfast for 7 years, before seeking a quieter life policing the metropolis.
In Hertfordshire, Steve has performed a variety of roles, including BCU Inspections Coordinator, Deputy Area Commander, Operation Crystal, Head of Serious and Organised Crime, Head of Ops Support and Recalibration.
He is currently responsible for command of the three Areas, Force Operational Performance, and Tasking and Coordination.
