Steve Finnigan Chief Constable Lancashire Constabulary
Chief Constable Steve Finnigan was appointed into the post on Friday 23 March 2007.

He has held the post as Acting Chief Constable since March 2005 and prior to that was the Deputy Chief Constable for Lancashire for just over two years. 

Mr Finnigan began his career with Merseyside Police in 1976 where he held various operational roles before heading up the Press and Publicity Department and then becoming the Area Commander for Crosby.

In 1997, he was posted as a Detective Superintendent to the Major Crime Unit before joining Lancashire as an Assistant Chief Constable in 2001.  

He acted as the Gold Commander during the Burnley disturbances of that year and, following promotion to Deputy Chief Constable, performed the same role for the Labour Party Conference of 2002. 

Following the departure of Paul Stephenson to the Metropolitan Police, Mr Finnigan became Acting Chief Constable for the Constabulary and has been instrumental in driving forward the Quality Counts and Diversity programmes across the force.
