Assistant Chief Constable - Jeff Farrar
Mr Farrar is 43 years of age and has 25 years police service, all with South Wales Police. He is educated to post-graduate level, achieving a BSc (Hons) 2:1 in Police Studies in 1998 and more recently (2008) was awarded a Masters in Public Administration.

Much of his early service as a Constable and Sergeant was spent in uniformed operational policing and CID. He was seconded to HMIC in 1999 to assist with the post-Lawrence inspection of the Metropolitan Police Service and in 2000 was an integral member of the ‘Winning the Race III’ diversity inspection. On return to South Wales he was appointed as Chief Inspector (Change Manager) responsible for the merger of three policing divisions into one. He was promoted to Superintendent in 2002 as Staff Officer to the ACPO team, advising on policies and strategies affecting the diverse communities of South Wales before moving to the Cardiff BCU where he served for 3 years. During this period he commanded a number of high profile events including the FA Cup Final. In December 2005 he was promoted to Chief Superintendent assuming command of the Rhondda Cynon Taff (RCT) & Merthyr BCU, overseeing the merger of two BCUs to make it one of the busiest divisions in Wales. After completing the Strategic Command Course Chief Superintendent Farrar was appointed to head the Professional Standards Department.

Mr. Farrar was appointed Assistant Chief Constable, Operations for Gwent Police on June 15th 2009.
