Mark Smith
T/Assistant Chief Constable (Crime)
Mark Smith joined BTP in 1981 and has served across London as well as at Force Headquarters. He has been a career detective with wide experience of investigating major crime and major incidents going back to the Southall rail crash of 1997. Mark has worked closely with partners such as the Office of Rail Regulation and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and, as well as leading for BTP on crime matters, also leads nationally for the Association of Chief Police Officers on corporate manslaughter and suicide prevention in his role with the Homicide Working Group.
