Andrew Trotter OBE, QPM

Andrew Trotter took over as Chief Constable in September 2009 after serving five years as Deputy Chief Constable. Andrew’s police career began with the Metropolitan Police in 1970. He transferred to Kent County Constabulary in 1972 where he gained wide operational experience in both rural and urban areas. He also became a specialist in public order policing.



In 1992 Andrew transferred back to the Metropolitan police on promotion to Superintendent and attended the Strategic Command Course in 1995. He was promoted to Commander the same year and became Deputy Assistant Commissioner in 1998. His last post with the Metropolitan Police was as DAC Territorial Operations responsible for Crime Operations, Traffic and Transport, and Public Order.
