Colin Matthews, the most recent ACC to be appointed in Merseyside has responsibility for the Personnel and Training portfolio. 

Born and brought up on Wirral, he joined Merseyside Police as a constable in 1979, working his way up through the Force. Colin performed a variety of uniform, detective and training roles to the rank of Chief Inspector. He wrote and delivered the first national murder investigation courses as part of his work in modernising detective training during this period.
