Mark Polin Chief Constable North Wales Police

Mark Polin was appointed as Chief Constable of North Wales Police on 10 September 2009.

Mark joined the police service in 1983 working in the City of London Police where he worked up to the rank of Chief Inspector. In his last posting with the City of London Police, he was in charge of operations in Snow Hill, with particular responsibility for security operations at the Central Criminal Court and other high profile venues.

In 1998 he transferred on promotion to Gwent Police as the Superintendent in charge of various central operational functions, including the Force Control Room and the firearms, public order and traffic units. This was followed by command of the Ebbw Vale Division.

In December 1999, Mark was appointed as Chief Superintendent and Divisional Commander of Caerphilly Division, and in 2002 assumed responsibility for the Professional and Ethical Standards Department.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Chief Constable in Gloucestershire Constabulary in October 2007, he held two other Chief Officer portfolios. As Assistant Chief Constable (Corporate Services) he was responsible for the Criminal Justice, Community Partnerships and Contact Management Departments and was a member of the Local Criminal Justice Board and other strategic partnerships in the county.

As Assistant Chief Constable (Operations), he was accountable for performance improvement and had responsibility for the three territorial Divisions and the Specialist Crime Investigation Services and Operational Services Departments.

Mark holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Open University.
