Long service medal and Queen's Commendation for Bravery awarded to Pc A116 Gore, Bristol Constabulary
At 11:15pm on Sunday 27th October 1968 Pc Gore was on mobile patrol and discovered a serious house fire in the St Agnes area of Bristol. He entered the house, and despite receiving burn injuries, rescued a 13 year old boy from upstairs. He then attempted to rescue more occupants, but was beaten back by flames. He then assisted the fire brigade who removed the other occupants through an upstairs window. For his actions he was commended by the Queen, which was published in the London Gazette.
